The webinar aimed to provide participants with the knowledge to reflect/engage on issues that lie at the root of sexual misconduct, issues of power imbalance and gender inequality and pave way for commitments and follow-up actions in organisational culture change to create workspaces/places of mutual respect, inclusion and accountability where sexual misconduct does not happen.

The webinar aimed to cover good organisational culture and practices, how they can be realised within organisations and who bears the responsibility to ensure they are realised.

Overview of presentation

The presentation covered the following;

  1. Definition of organisational culture. Key discussion points; (what must be done for culture to exist in an organisation, cultural iceberg, types of organisational culture, relationship between culture and organisational performance).
  2. Instilling good organisational culture within organisations (South Sudan context, with relevant examples from within and elsewhere)
  3. Summary and reflections from the presentation and call to action by the participants to instill good organisational culture within their organisations

Chair:

Caroline Kibos headshotCaroline Kibos is a lawyer with a passion for human rights, peace building, governance, transitional justice and security sector reforms. She supported local level peace initiatives in South Sudan and refugee camps in Uganda and Ethiopia. She also actively supported civil society during the High Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF) in Addis and continues to participate in different policy fora that play great roles on shaping public policies.

She is a co-coordinator of the South Sudan Civil Society Forum, a member to both the Women Coalition & Youth Coalition and the representative of the youth to the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC). Ms Kibos strongly supports women and youth participation and inclusion in all other processes. She is committed to women empowerment and emancipation from all barriers including cultural and societal barriers that hinder full participation of women in public life. Caroline currently works as the national associate for the South Sudan Resource and Support Hub.

 

Panellist:

Abel Lago Bago Abel Loga Bago is a member of the Men4Women Initiative, an organisation reputable for advocating for Sexual Reproductive Rights and protection from Gender-Based Violence. He is an expert trainer on safeguarding mainly to civil society organisations since 2016.

In 2017 Loga started to deliver the training on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) with adherence to the inter-agency standing committee on PSEA. Loga has conducted mentorship sessions to Men4Women volunteers across the country focusing on Sexual Exploitation and  Abuse. In this role, he has been effective in building local capacity and partnerships so that the humanitarian workers can maintain an environment which prevents SEA and promotes the implementation of their code of conduct within their areas of operations.

He holds MA in Development and Emergency Practice, Oxford Brookes University (UK) and BA in Public Administration and Management, Uganda Christian University. He also attended a training on Comparative Human Rights, the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
